Cloudy Skies, Cool Weather, and Active Chamois

The moment we reached the hunting area and parked the vehicle, the first chamois were already in sight—though still distant. A thick cloud cover blocked out the sun, keeping the temperatures cool and the animals active all day long. It was the perfect setup for a successful Cantabrian chamois hunt.

Climbing Higher, and an Unexpected Encounter with Iberian Wolves

As we ascended and gained elevation, getting closer to our target area, a sudden burst of movement caught our eye—several chamois sprinting downhill. Scanning the mountainside through binoculars, we quickly found the cause: three majestic Iberian wolves chasing them across the rocks. But as always, the chamois had the advantage in this rugged terrain, disappearing into the cliffs within seconds.

In Search of a Trophy Cantabrian Chamois

Fortunately, the fleeing group consisted of younger animals—not yet mature enough for our hunt. The rest of the mountain remained undisturbed, offering us the opportunity to continue our careful search. Now in the higher zones, every step forward could reveal our perfect chamois.

A Dreamlike Sunset and the Sight We Hoped For

With fog filling the valley below and the mountain peaks glowing under a clear sky, the atmosphere was absolutely surreal. It was in this magical moment that we spotted a solitary mature chamois—exactly the kind of trophy Cantabrian chamois we were hoping for. But the real challenge was about to begin: closing the distance without being detected.

Success at Last

Using the terrain to our advantage, we crawled to a rocky outcrop just 160 yards from our target. The chamois remained unaware, calmly feeding. Our hunter took his time, focused, and delivered a perfect shot. The animal collapsed instantly—a clean and ethical harvest, like every hunt with the Top Spanish Hunting.

The Most Spectacular Hunting Photo Imaginable

The scene that unfolded felt almost unreal: mountain silhouettes, golden sunset light, and lingering fog wrapped around the valley below. It was a moment of complete harmony with nature. We took our time honoring the animal and captured photos that reflect not just the hunt, but the soul of the guided Cantabrian chamois hunt. As night fell, we descended with headlamps, ready to enjoy a well-earned hot shower and a hearty Spanish steak dinner—a fitting end to an unforgettable day in the mountains.
