If you’re looking for the best overall hunting season in Spain, we recommend visiting between October and February. During these months, most of Spain’s huntable species are in season, including red deer, fallow deer, mouflon, wild boar, and all four types of Spanish ibex.

That said, spring is also an excellent time to hunt certain species, especially ibex, roe deer, chamois, mouflon, and wild boar. However, it’s important to note that red deer and fallow deer are not available in spring, as they have already shed their antlers.

Spanish Ibex hunting season

From October to May, Spain offers prime ibex hunting (Gredos Ibex, Beceite Ibex, Ronda Ibex and Southeastern Ibex)—and we proudly maintain a 100% success rate all season long. Pyrenean chamois hunting season

Cantabrian chamois hunting season

I have been on many guided hunts in 50 years,  but this was by far the best. It wasn’t only a hunt, but also an adventure into Spanish culture and architecture. An unforgettable experience during the mountain rut. A stunning setting, with the sound of deer echoing through the valleys and wild nature that gives goosebumps.

An Unforgettable Gredos Ibex Hunt in Spain with Alfonso and all the Top Spanish Hunting Team. I recently returned from an incredible 5-day hunting adventure in the Gredos mountains of Spain, organized by Top Spanish Hunting, a top-tier outfitter run by Alfonso, the owner and founder. From the moment I landed in Madrid after flying directly from Boston, Alfonso handled everything: airport pickup, accommodations, meals, and guided me personally throughout the entire experience until I was back at the airport.
The highlight of the trip was the Gredos Ibex hunt, where I had the chance to harvest a truly magnificent ibex in one of Spain’s most stunning hunting regions. The scenery was breathtaking, and the hunt was expertly organized, an experience I’ll never forget.
Outside of the hunt, the hospitality was outstanding. We ate and drank like kings, every meal was exceptional, with amazing local food and wine. The lodges and hotels we stayed in were first-class, combining comfort with authentic charm.
Since I had five days in Spain, we also took the opportunity to attend a bullfight at Las Ventas, Madrid’s iconic bullring, a unique cultural experience that added even more depth to the trip.
